Our Favorite Michigan Getaways
Oden, MI
Joseph A. Magnus chose the idyllic town of Oden, Michigan, as his summer getaway. The town is nestled in the northern part of lower Michigan, where Magnus built his summer home, a golf course, and a boathouse. More than one hundred years later our team still considers Oden a hidden gem. Enjoy a Negroni with a Magnus twist, while dipping your feet in Crooked Lake, which borders the town.
Negroni Getaway
- 1 oz Joseph Magnus District Dry Gin
- 1 oz Cynar
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
- Lemon peel, garnish
In a mixing glass with ice, add all ingredients and stir until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice and top with an expressed lemon peel.
Traverse City, MI
Michigan’s own wine country and a peninsula within a peninsula. Traverse City boasts idyllic scenery for wandering via car, bicycle, watercraft, or foot.
Beaver Island, MI
Take the ferry from Charlevoix and rent a cottage for a long weekend on this lesser known, peaceful Michigan island. Beaver Island is a good location for family get-togethers. Batch out cocktails for a crowd around a beach campfire.

The Ontonagon area in the northwestern corner of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is known for its proximity to the scenic Porcupine Mountains. A cottage in these woods gives you access to some of the best hiking and most scenic views Michigan has to offer.

St. Ignace is a quiet, lakeshore retreat steeped in history. Spend your days visiting the lighthouse, the geological formation known as Castle Rock, or take the ferry over to bustling Mackinac Island. Close out an evening with a pour of whiskey and a view of the Mackinac Bridge.
